The above is the edited version of my letter. Here is what I exactly wrote on 3RD MARCH 2014 :

When the going gets tough, the tough get going

Dear Sir,

This refers to your superb and excellent coverage of “Hottest Young Executives” in your issue of BT dated 16th March 2014, profiling 25 of India’s best and brightest corporate performers under 40.

Congratulations to them and kudos to the BT team as well as the selection panelists, who had a tough task to short-list the most deserving performers and include them in this coveted list.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going”, is a common proverb much in use, specially now when the overall economic scenario is dismal and some of the industries are facing many challenges and a battle of survival of the fittest in the competitive markets.

Their focus on what they learnt from their MBA degrees, the hurdles they had to cross to come out as winners, the multi-faceted skills they had to acquire, their big breaks and sometimes equally big failures which taught them valuable practical lessons in management, beyond the written and prescribed text books, time management and work and home life balance are some the most valuable tips certainly worth sharing, in the form of case studies, for motivating the students presently doing their MBA in various colleges and institutions. (As a Visiting / Guest Faculty member myself, I intend to discuss these performers in my future sessions!) – J S BROCA    New Delhi
