The story profiles their career paths, their qualities which made them reach where they are today and of course, their vision for their company’s future. They have also uttered some delicious quotes on the
topic : “A work place without women is like….”
I read the cover story as well as all the other articles and I enjoyed reading it.As usual,I shot off the following letter to the Editor :

Dear Sir,Your issue on “30 Most Powerful Women in Indian Business” (BT-28th November 2010) celebrating the rise and rise of this fair brigade, indicated as if it was March in November, since Women’s Day is generally celebrated on 8th of March every year, when the focus of attention ranges from a celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements. Your list of Women Power has added another dimension-viz their achievement in the business arena too. Thankfully, unlike your other surveys, you did not attempt to rank these power houses of talent, for they are all Number One in their respective fields. A significant sidelight of the listing was that they did not mind revealing their ages! (It seems BT staffers were decent enough not to ask them-“Never ask a woman her age” is a common adage, no?).One could gleefully learn that out of 30, only 2 women (6.70%) were in the age bracket of 31-40,while 15 ( a massive 50%) were in the 41-50 bracket.Further,10 out of 30 (33.30%) were in the age bracket of 51-60 and just 3 out of 30 ( 10%) were above 60.You certainly let the readers draw their own conclusions from this revelation ! The significant and important conclusion was that age is not a factor for women to be considered for being included in such distinctive lists. You certainly made the quotable quotes uttered by these beauties with brains, a collector’s delight:” a workplace without women is like- food without spice, a garden without flowers, a bird with one wing…” etc. In the final analysis, one tends to agree with the last lines of your editor Chaitanya Kalbaug’s editorial: “Most Powerful Women in Indian business, needs to be celebrated, not just once a year but at every opportunity.” A superb issue.Yeh Dil Maangey More..!!
