Brunch Dec 01

Brunch is a Sunday weekly magazine of the Hindustan Times. We all love reading it. I recently came across a limerick. Here it goes:

A verse writer was published by ‘Punch’,
Wrote his work at his Breakfast and Lunch.
Tuesdays to Mondays,
But never on Sundays,
As on that day he only had BRUNCH!”

Mnemonics (Chalaki in Hindi) Oct 25

Hi

I used to help my kids with stuff they needed to memorize through mnemonics. For example, the following Mnemonic is an easy way to memorize the properties of metals when read in Hindi.

Lal hara mera hai dera,
Si Si than than den mein peda,
Zyada tan-stran hai sakhat lapeda.

Understand? No? Lal – means lustrous, tan-stran – tensile strength etc.

Hello world! Jul 25

Exercise is good for health. Generally, we do not exercise. Either because we are too busy or too lazy. I read a quote which amused me:

I do not exercise. If God had wanted me to bend down, He would have scattered diamonds and pearls on the floor.

Modern Girls

Attitude of Modern girls: Me no worry, me no care. Me go marry millionaire. Millionaire die, me no cry. Me go marry another guy.

This is my first attempt at blogging. Wish me luck.

My take on Sania Mirza Jun 20

Recall this nursery rhyme?

pussy with the queen

Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat
Where have you been?
I’ve been to London
To look at the Queen

Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat
What did you do there?
I frightened a little mouse
Under the chair.

Here’s my appreciation for Sania, by way of a new generation nursery rhyme:

Sania, Sania, where have you been?
I’ve been to Melbourne to play Australian Open
Sania, Sania, What did you do there?
I frightened Serena Williams in the second set there!

Sania, Sania, What are now your plans?
That depends on sponsors and government grants
Sania, Sania, wish you all the best
You’re really spunky and better than the rest!

Sania, Sania, wishing more power to your racquet
Many your stature grow, with rise in pay packet
Sania, Sania, your play was divine,
Keep winning laurels for the country, making India really shine!
